What is WellSpace Maine?

WellSpace Maine is a Psychotherapy practice founded on the pillars of providing clients with evidence-based treatments and the therapeutic relationship to foster growth, connection, and ultimately, meaningful change. Through individual, couples, family or support groups with one of our specialized therapists, clients have access to this potential.

MISSION

WellSpace Maine has a dual mission: to provide empowering specialized therapy in a private practice setting, and to offer a unique training program for fully and conditionally-licensed clinicians to cultivate the art and science of psychotherapy. This shared purpose ensures a life-enriching therapeutic experience centering the relationship between client and therapist.

VISION

Our intention as an engaged community of therapists is to provide a safe, authentic space that fosters insight, growth, and a path to wellness

Our Anti-Racism Commitment

At WellSpace Maine, we believe racism is a system of privilege, inequality, and oppression based on perceived categorical differences, value assigned to those differences, and a system of oppression that rewards and punishes people based on the assigned differences. It is manifested politically, socially, economically, culturally, interpersonally, and intrapersonally in the history of the United States.

Since we were founded, WellSpace Maine has worked to promote knowledge, values and skills that help clinicians identify, critically analyze and intervene against the insidious and lethal effects of racism. Our therapy community is one that fosters respect for diverse worldviews and for each other's equal place in the world. We believe in the power of self-reflection and ongoing discussion about how issues of race influence our organization, our roles as therapists, our roles as supervisors, as community members, and as individuals in this world.

WellSpace Maine is currently engaged in a specific anti-racism audit where we are examining our policies, procedures, hiring practices, theoretical orientations and their histories, training program, and clinical practices in order to dismantle systems of privilege that exist within our organization. We will always be learning and working to deepen our commitment to anti-racism.
